
Dr. Martin Keenan
Founder & General Practitioner
Dr. Martin Keenan is an experienced General Practitioner and Founder of Oranmore Family Doctors. He graduated with First Class Honours in Psychology and Mathematics before completing his medical degree at the University of Limerick. Following his internship in Galway, he gained valuable experience across a range of specialties including Psychiatry, Neurology, and General Medicine before completing his specialist training in General Practice through the Western GP Training Scheme.
Since qualifying, Dr. Martin has worked in both rural and urban communities, caring for patients of all ages and backgrounds. He is passionate about delivering compassionate, patient-centred healthcare and believes in building long-term relationships with patients and families based on trust, respect, and continuity of care.
Alongside his clinical work, Dr. Martin is a Clinical Trainer with the University of Limerick and the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), where he is actively involved in teaching and mentoring the next generation of healthcare professionals. He has a particular interest in preventative medicine, dermatology, women’s health, children’s health, and medical education.
Committed to lifelong learning, Dr. Martin has completed a wide range of postgraduate qualifications in clinical medicine, leadership, education, and research. His broad experience and continued professional development allow him to provide comprehensive, evidence-based care to patients of all ages.
Originally from Ballinderreen, Co. Galway, Dr. Martin has a keen interest in languages and cultural connection. He speaks Irish and Portuguese fluently and has working knowledge of French, German, and basic Russian, helping him communicate comfortably with patients from diverse backgrounds.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Martin enjoys spending time with his family. He is married to Emer and is the proud father of twins, Vivienne and Ronan.

Emer Keenan
Founder
Emer Keenan is a Founder of Oranmore Family Doctors and has been instrumental in helping to create the welcoming, patient-focused practice that exists today. Originally from Inverin in Connemara, she is passionate about healthcare, community, and ensuring that every patient has a positive experience when attending the practice.
With over 13 years of experience in the healthcare sector, spanning both hospital and general practice settings, Emer brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to Oranmore Family Doctors. She previously worked at the Bon Secours Hospital Galway, where she gained valuable experience in both the Urology and Orthopaedic departments. She also worked in three busy general practices before co-founding Oranmore Family Doctors, giving her extensive insight into the day-to-day needs of patients and healthcare teams.
Emer played a significant role in the design and development of Oranmore Family Doctors, helping to create a bright, modern, and family-friendly environment. From the child-friendly nurses’ room and dedicated children’s play area in the welcoming waiting room, her focus has always been on ensuring patients feel comfortable and cared for from the moment they arrive. Known for adding a touch of seasonal cheer, Emer also enjoys decorating the practice for Easter, Halloween, Christmas, and other special occasions, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere that patients of all ages can enjoy which is something many parents/patients notice and appreciate when they visit Oranmore Family Doctors.
She is a strong advocate for patient-centred care and believes that every patient deserves to be treated with kindness, respect, and compassion. Her experience across both hospital and community healthcare settings has reinforced the importance of providing a professional, welcoming, and supportive environment for patients and their families.
In addition to her work behind the scenes, Emer continues to manage the practice’s social media presence on Facebook and Instagram, helping to keep patients informed about healthcare updates, practice news, health awareness campaigns, and community events. She enjoys using social media as a way to connect with patients and promote health education in an accessible and engaging manner.
A fluent native Irish speaker, Emer is proud of her Connemara roots and values the strong sense of community that has shaped both her personal and professional life.
Outside of the practice, Emer enjoys spending time with her family. She is married to Dr. Martin Keenan, co-founder of Oranmore Family Doctors, and is the proud mother of twins, Vivienne and Ronan.
Emer continues to be a familiar face around the practice and remains passionate about supporting the team, improving services, and helping Oranmore Family Doctors provide the highest standard of care to the local community.

Dr. Padraig Curtin
General Practitioner
Dr. Padraig Curtin joined Oranmore Family Doctors in April 2026 and is delighted to be part of the team providing high-quality, patient-centred care to the local community. A full biography and professional profile will be available soon.

Daireen Bourke
Practice Nurse
Daireen is a dedicated practice nurse with over 14 years of experience. She graduated from University College Dublin in 2011 and has worked in various settings, including St George’s Hospital in London and the Royal Ward in Abu Dhabi. Daireen has specialized in areas such as neurology, dermatology, and wound care. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she enhanced her skills in managing acutely unwell patients.
Originally from Donegal, Daireen is now settled in Oranmore with her husband and two young children, Fiadh and Oisin.
Daireen joined Oranmore Family Doctors in April 2025 and is excited to bring her wealth of nursing experience to her new role as a Practice Nurse and is highly motivated to continue learning and growing in her profession.

Carol Glynn
Practice Manager
Carol Glynn is the Practice Manager at Oranmore Family Doctors, bringing over 20 years of administration and customer service experience, including more than five years working within healthcare settings.
A Galway native and mother of two, Carol combines her professional expertise with a genuine understanding of the needs of individuals and families accessing healthcare services.
Prior to joining Oranmore Family Doctors, Carol worked in both the Galway Clinic and Alliance Medical, where she gained extensive experience in patient care, clinic coordination, medical administration, referrals, appointment management, and supporting healthcare professionals in busy clinical environments.
Known for her warm and friendly manner, Carol is committed to providing a professional and welcoming experience for every patient. Her strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and dedication to excellent patient care make her a valued member of the Oranmore Family Doctors team.
Carol works closely with Emer and Dr. Martin as she continues to develop her knowledge of the operational and administrative aspects of the practice. She strives to ensure continuity and ongoing excellence in patient care and service delivery.
Outside of work, Carol enjoys travelling, reading, arts and crafts, and walking. She is passionate about supporting charitable causes and regularly participates in fundraising events for organisations including Autism Ireland, Motor Neurone Disease Ireland, and Multiple Sclerosis Ireland. Over the years, she has taken part in events such as Darkness Into Light, the Vhi Women’s Mini Marathon, and charity cycling events to help raise funds and awareness for worthwhile causes.

Sandi Wallace
Medical Secretary / Office Manager
Sandi serves as our dedicated full-time Medical Secretary and Office Manager. A retired certified nurse, Sandi brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our practice. Born and raised in Germany, she has lived across the U.S.A., enriching her professional journey with diverse experiences.
Sandi excels in the dynamic environment of a medical practice, consistently maintaining the highest standards of efficiency and care. With extensive experience in office management and HR, she ensures our practice operates smoothly and effectively.
Sandi first visited Ireland on holiday with her daughter and fell in love with our beautiful Emerald Isle. She decided to make Oranmore her home nearly 20 years ago and has since become an integral part of the Oranmore community.

Bríd McSherry
Reception & Administrative Support
Bríd provides valuable reception, holiday, and sick leave cover for the team at Oranmore Family Doctors. Semi-retired and a native of Connemara, Bríd brings a wealth of experience and professionalism to the practice, having spent over 30 years working with TG4, including numerous years on reception.
Throughout her career, Bríd has developed exceptional communication and customer service skills, ensuring every patient receives a warm and friendly welcome. She continues to work in the Irish language sector, translating scripts into Irish and supporting the promotion of our native language.
A fluent Irish speaker, Bríd particularly enjoys assisting Irish-speaking patients who attend Oranmore Family Doctors and takes great pride in supporting the use of the Irish language within the practice and the wider community.
